Breaking Barriers Fitness

Youth sports are a great way to keep children healthy and active and increase socialization opportunities with age-appropriate peers. At BBI, we teach socially essential skills that will allow an individual to engage in athletic sports and fitness routines. We provide behavior support within physical activities and offer various physical activities for individuals with autism and other disabilities. We teach individuals to engage in such activities using applied behavior analytic principles and strategies. Within these services, we will also include naturalistic teaching, social skills, and, if needed, behavior modification. Our goal is to systematically increase the amount of time an individual participates in physical activity to help ensure a healthy lifestyle while making it fun and rewarding. Sessions can be done at the Athlete's home or a nearby park/outdoor space.

We all reflect on what an impact being in sports and being fit played in our lives; it was where we created friendships, and memories, built character, and developed crucial skills, not only physical but life skills that stayed with us throughout our life. We realize how much is gained through fitness and sports and see the lack of resources for individuals diagnosed with disabilities. Because of this, we want to bridge the gap and create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage in such activities. Within our classes, we will teach basic fitness routines and exercises, sports, and fun games, as well as incorporate social skills.
